Taking a Leap of Faith with the Top 5 Clever Marketers of 2010

Happy New Year Leap of Faith: Clever Marketers of 2010If you want to be successful in your home based business in 2011, then you will need to know the 4 things that these top 5 clever marketers teach.

Discover what they are and meet 5 incredible people who are leading hundreds of thousands of marketers toward success and who personally impacted me this year with their friendship, leadership, coaching, and mentoring.

I want to encourage you to read between the lines in this post for the golden nuggets of marketing wisdom that will help you to move forward this year in your business and reach your goals.

But first…Please watch the video below.  I’m sharing very personal story about a very special gift I received this Christmas, that helped me be successful in my business before I even had it.

So let’s get on with the top 5 clever marketers and their 4 key principles to success:

The universal messages that underscore the training of these clever marketers are that it takes 4 things to be successful in a home based business online:

  1. Mentors: To teach and guide you
  2. Mastermind group: to push you and help you stretch yourself
  3. Mission: to motivate you and drive you forward
  4. Massive action: consistent action a few steps outside of your comfort zone

Success is not about the teacher, it’s not about the information, it’s not about the business, or the method of marketing.  Success is about putting all four of the pieces together to complete the puzzle.  You can’t see the big picture and you will struggle in your business if one or more of them are missing.

Top 5 Clever Marketers of 2010:

Thankfully for me, these 5 clever marketers helped me to put the pieces together and see a whole new side to building a business from home!

Ty Tribble: Blogger and Social Media Entrepreneur

Ty Tribble Clever Marketer 2010Where do I start?  I was introduced to Ty Tribble through his free Blogging for Prospects videos that were part of his MLM Blog Secrets and MLM Blog Code launch that he produced with the help of Ann Sieg and her renegade team.  I totally loved his laid back style of teaching and the simple way he shared how to leverage other blog owner’s socially proven content and the benefits of owning a blog.

Ty Tribble took a lot of the internet marketing training and tied up all the loose ends for me, showing me how all the pieces fit together.

I was lucky to be chosen to have my blog reviewed by both Ty Tribble and Ann Sieg in the MLM Blog Code bonus webinar which really helped me to fine tune my blog by pointing out things I didn’t know that I didn’t know.

Ty Tribble also invited me to be his first guest blogger on his blog TyTribble.com.  My post, Writer’s Block: A Beginning Blogger’s Guide to Get Over It, taught me the power of drafting off a leader.  He helped me to get my first spike of traffic and attract double digit leads for the first time.  I came back to him a second time with another idea for a guest post called Clever Copywriting Secrets.  By leveraging his traffic and list I was able to put myself on the map within the MLM Blog niche and even finish in the top 50 MLM Blog contest this year!

Ty Tribble’s training that helped me this year:

Note: You’ll notice that Ty’s blog has been very quiet.  I got the inside scoop from him before Christmas that he is busy working on a big new project that will be the answer to many a network marketer’s prayers.  I’ll share the details with you as soon as it’s ready and I get to take a peek at it.

Ann Sieg: Author of The Renegade Network Marketer, The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing & The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto

Ann Sieg Clever Marketer 2010Ann Sieg is the perfect example of attraction marketing at it’s finest.  I’m not sure if Ann knows this, but I first met her when I purchased leads from a company where she was a trainer.  It was before her launch of The Renegade Network Marketer and I was so impressed with her warmth and teaching style that it left a lasting memory.

Because she took the time to invest in me, educating me and helping me build my business, I’ve become a loyal follower who has purchased every training course she’s put out that fit my needs and my budget at the time.  Ann Sieg has always over-delivered on her promises.  At the time I wasn’t even looking for ways to build my network marketing business online, but she planted the seed in my mind that slowly sprouted as I watched this industry take off.

I had the privilege of participating in the MLM Blog review with her and was again touched by her effective coaching and warm style.  I credit Ann Sieg with helping to keep me in the loop with what’s happening in our industry so that I can position myself in front of the growing trends. I also give her credit for helping me to get my mindset in the right place to embrace the growth and changes I’ve made this year.

Ann Sieg is always watching and encouraging her students, and the little “likes” and comments I receive from her on facebook and the RT’s on twitter are wonderful little reminders to me that she’s there and she’s watching my progress. That speaks volumes for me, that a leader of her statue and success will take the time to reach down and give me a little nudge in the right direction.

Carrie Wilkerson, “The Barefoot Executive”

Carrie Wilkerson Barefoot Executive Clever Marketer 2010Carrie first captured my attention when I started to look at the internet as a way to build my network marketing business. I’ve purchased several of her ebooks, trainings, and home study courses and for a long time, sat back and absorbed it all and watched her reach massive success online.  I was stuck in learning mode living life as an internet marketing spectator for too long.

This year, I signed up for Carrie Wilkerson’s direct sales barefoot bootcamp training and went into it with a whole new attitude of implementing and networking.   (Carrie’s a master networker who manages to be in a thousand places at once online.  If you don’t know her, she’ll be crossing your path soon somewhere!)

The networking I did with the other people in the direct sales boot camp led me to creating a mastermind with a couple of other women, (now it’s just me and one other amazing woman) who has helped me to stay focused on my goals with semi-monthly calls to coach each other.

I’ve implemented many of Carrie Wilkerson’s list building strategies that she teaches in her Magnetic List Building Course and what hasn’t been implemented yet is on my list for 2011.

Jackie Ulmer: Success Coach and Network Marketing Trainer

Jackie Ulmer Clever Marketer 2010One of my favorite trainers from the direct sales barefoot bootcamp was Jackie Ulmer who trained on the subject of high tech – high touch for direct sellers and network marketers.  And let me tell you, this woman walks her talk.  After the call I signed up on her website for more information and the next day my phone rang with Jackie Ulmer on the other end asking how she could help me.  I was blown away by the free guidance she offered me.

The training on her blog, her videos, and her ebook, MLM the Internet and You, has been monumentally helpful to me this past year in figuring out how to blend my network marketing business with the internet.  She is a mom, a leader, and someone who although she probably doesn’t know it, has helped me break down the barriers to getting my business online.

Jackie Ulmer’s ebook that helped me this hear:

MLM the Internet and You

You can connect with Jackie Ulmer on facebook, twitter, and her blog.

Kim De Young, “The Get It Done Girl”

Clever Marketer 2010 Kim De Young

Kim DeYoung is a mom with a message I connected with instantly.  She is the founder of  MetroMom and Get it Done University.  I discovered her late in 2009 and I’ve been following her throughout this whole year.  She is a warm and helpful woman who really showed me that I had enough information and knowledge inside of me already to be out there helping others.  I give her the credit for helping me to break the spectator cycle and find my voice online.

Kim DeYoung gave me the advice to and the kick in the butt to “get my brilliance out of my head…no more learning!”  She helped me so much through her personal coaching and her training course on how to create my first information products and my blog.  In fact, her blogging ABC course was the course that showed me the potential power a blog held for my business and helped me to get my initial start in the blogosphere.

The biggest gift I received from Kim DeYoung was how she helped me to become aware of the gifts I had within myself that I was selfishly keeping from my market because of my insecurities.

Kim DeYoung’s training that helped me this year:

BTW: Kim’s doing one of her awesome free calls on Thursday, January 6th to help you get clear on which projects you should focus on in 2011 to reach your goals. Register for the free call here.

Thank you to the awesome clever marketers who have helped to promote me this year!

In addition to the mentors I mentioned above, I would love to mention the the members of my commenting tribe who have supported me, retweeted me, shared me on facebook, encouraged me, masterminded with me and overall, kept me going because I had someone pushing me to write.

      Happy New Year Ann!

Thank you so much for your sweet comment!

I hope you were able to enjoy some relaxing family time today.

My parents blew me away with the gift. I guess they ran out while we were busy with the kids later that day and picked it up for me, and they’ve been hiding it for 6 months. 🙂

I will definitely pass a hug onto my mom from you when she is here tomorrow.

Thanks Ann! I so appreciate you.

      Love, Heather

      Hi Martin!

I’m glad my video encouraged you. I think that pivotal moments are so inspiring when I hear them in others.

I know that all the time, money, and effort I’ve invested into my education will pay off. There are so many times when I’m laying in bed in the morning or working out at the gym when an idea comes to me from something I learned a year or two ago.

The difference now is that I’m so excited to come home and implement it right away, where as before I was just tucking it away in my mind for “someday.”

Thank you for your awesome comment!

      Happy New Year!

  4. Heather, this is really touching and a great idea to give a tribute to the people who helped you the most in 2010. I love your 4 M’s of success and resonate with them completely. I found your blog through following a link from Ann Sieg. I’ll definitely revisit your blog for it’s sincere value and appreciate the Comment Luv, which I also have on my blog and invite you to visit. Hopefully I can add value to you as you have to me with this post. Thanks so much, and I hardly need to wish you a Successful New Year because from this post I have every confidence that you will indeed have one!

  5. Hey Heather,

This post was so touching to me! What an awesome gift from your mom! What a special thing to have your mom listening to your heart and seeing how much meaning this had for you! I miss my mom so bad and all the encouragement she gave me, so you are blessed to have your mom as your cheerleader!

Heather, I’m so glad I have come across your path, you prove to me anything is possible when you dream! You inspire me to be more than I think I can be and I know you have no idea the impact you have had on me!

I can’t wait to read more about you and your great posts! To have you share your experience and your knowledge with me and others… THANKS SO MUCH, my new friend!

Congrats on having your blog reviewed by such an incrediable woman as Ann Sieg… see I am in the right spot at the right time to learn from someone like you, that has the same interests as myself!

Have a wonderful weekend with your family. Again THANKS for sharing this post today… you have brought such great encouragement and hope for me to see where 6 months can take me!

    • Heather Stephens says:

Wow, you have no idea how much your comment inspired and encouraged me!

I’m sorry you’re missing your mom. I don’t know you yet or your situation and I hope it’s ok to say this. I can only come from the point of view with the relationship I have with my mom, but if she were not here with me right now, I can imagine myself doing it for her…making my success a tribute to her love for me.

I wish you the absolute best, Christina! You absolutely can be successful at anything your put your mind to. Remember that when you show up, things happen! I’m finding more and more that it’s the biggest key to success in anything!

I know you left me several comments and I promise I’ll answer them all this next week. I’m unplugging for the rest of the weekend to spend time with my family.

      Thank you for your kindness!

  6. Heather,
wow! That is all I can say. As each new month passes you grow that much more. I have to run faster to catch up with you on blogging, seriously, but that’s ok! It motivates me…..Great video, very inspirational.

Leap of faith – As Robert Kiyosaki would say, it is more costly not to take that leap than it is to take it. There is always a price to pay, even for the choice to do nothing. I see you have chosen a price that will position you to be in a different boat this coming July, than you were last July, financially. You, and your husband, and your children, all deserve the breakthroughs and freedom that comes with the price you are paying today.

This is what separates the have’s from the have nots.

    God Bless You Richly,

    • Heather Stephens says:

You have to be one of the most encouraging guys I know! Thank you for your awesome comment.

You make a great point that there is a price to pay for both sides of taking action and not taking action.

The thing that I think most people don’t realize and I know I didn’t realize for a while is that not doing it is so much harder than actually doing it. I thought that the action taking things in my business would be so challenging. I put them off because I was overwhelmed by them. Sure, there is a learning curve and it was harder in the beginning, but so was everything else we’ve learned to do. But there hasn’t been anything I’ve done yet that was anywhere near as hard as I made them out to be.

Proud to be your pacing partner! 🙂 You’ve been pushing me along too! Let’s continue to push each other this coming year.

May God bless you too, with all the success and love your heart can hold!

  7. Hey Heather,

Thanks for making me feel like one of the regulars in my first few weeks of taking blogging seriously. I have learned a lot from the people you’ve introduced to me and I can’t wait to see what 2011 has in store for all of us. Keep up the great work and lets reach those goals!

    • Heather Stephens says:

      Hi Jared!

I want you to succeed. It was only a few short months ago I was exactly where you are right now. I know that this works. I have total belief that if you apply what you are learning from the marketers in our tribe and others, if you consistently post your absolute best content 3 or more times a week, and you get yourself out there and comment on other blogs, network in social media to build relationships you WILL be successful.

Thanks for your comment! Thanks for being a leap of faith example to others!

Here’s to a life changing year!

  8. Hey Heather,

Wow, wow, wow! What a powerful and inspiring post! I’m so glad that our paths crossed in 2010 – you’re so amazing!

It’s so inspiring to see how your blog and business have grown in the past 6 months. I can tell you right now, your business is going to explode in 2011!

Thanks for sharing the principles to success from the 5 clever marketers and for acknowledging your fellow bloggers/tribe members. Thanks for the kind mention 🙂

I wish you nothing but massive success this year, Heather!

  9. I am very much amazed with your post for it was great. It really touches my heart and for me you were right that success is a combination of all that things you have. I like the presentation and also your post as a whole. Those principle of those clever marketers are really awesome, it really inspire to do things the best I could. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day ahead!

  10. So Inspiring Heather!

The video is my all time favorite of yours. I’m sure your mom was thrilled to know how much that statue meant to you. Listening to your story made me a little homesick for my mom and siblings.

This post is so packed with value, I don’t even know where to start! I don’t know if you realize the tremendous gift you just gave us all. To have the list of some of the trainings, that have made the most impact on you and your business over the year, is powerful!

Some of these I hadn’t heard of, so I thank you for sharing them all here. YOU are an inspiration Heather. I love your work.

  11. Heather, what a great and inspiring video. I’ve spent this morning getting back into the swing of things and read many incredible posts with a box of kleenex by my side! Getting ready to break through some new barriers at the start of a new year has been a bit of an emotional battle for me these last few years – but like you I am a firm believer in taking a leap of faith because it’s what allows us to move through new and exciting doorways that otherwise remain unopened.

What a wonderfully meaningful gift from your mom too, not just the statue itself – which is awesome and beautiful, but her gift of love to you showing her support is so obvious which must also be an incredible boost.

Keep up the great work Heather – I am so pleased I crossed your path in 2010 and look forward to keeping in close touch this year! ~Jayne~

  12. Heather, this was sooooooooooo good. YOU really “get it” and I have added you to the “get it girls” list! 🙂

You have confirmed what I felt about 2011. Have GOOD courage! Yes, we must push out of our comfort zone and be brave. YOU did it. Love the video – felt like we were having tea together. Very nice job.

See the COURAGE blog post I wrote in December for my 2011 motivation (inspired by Rocky) http://pamperrypr.blogspot.com/2010/12/courage-look-fear-in-face-and-say-no-go.html

Keep dreaming big. Watch the Yolanda Adams too on the post. 🙂

    Take care
