Network Marketing Success Mindset: Finding the Strength to Overcome Obstacles

Network Marketing Success Mindset and Overcoming ChallengesI felt hesitation in sharing this network marketing success mindset video on finding the strength to overcome obstacles because I wasn’t sure if it was too personal of a story.  But I’ve taken the stance that since the lesson has been so powerfully moving for me, it might be for you as well. I won’t serve anyone else if keep it to myself.

I’m hoping that by sharing it, maybe it will help change your mindset in some way, which could result in a lasting legacy.

What this story is not about:

This is not a story about having a network marketing success mindset or overcoming obstacles in your business, but at the same time it has everything to do with these things.  I’ll get to them after the video…

What this story is about:

It’s a story of a 15 year old boy and what he did for his grandma, whom he called “Jamma”, to honor her, pay tribute to her, and celebrate her days before he lost her.

(I apologize ahead of time for tearing up on the video.  Like I said this is a very personal story and one that was powerfully moving to me, and I can’t tell the story without crying.)

You will not have the strength to overcome obstacles in your network marketing business or your life if you don’t set yourself up to win with a success mindset.

There are 9 steps to creating a strong network marketing success mindset:

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 1: Know your goal

My cousin knew what he wanted to accomplish.  He wanted to “Run one in for ‘Jamma.”

Have you thought about your goal and figured out what you really want to accomplish?

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 2: State your goal out loud

He told his Grandma what he was going to do when we was visiting with her in the hospital.

When you state your goal out loud it makes is real and when you tell someone about it, it makes you accountable.  People of integrity hold great value in keeping our word and we will often do anything possible to not break our word.

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 3: Write your goal down

My cousin wrote his goal on the bottom of his new cleats.

When you write your goal down your mind goes to work to figure out how to make that happen.

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 4: Have a strong enough reason why you want to reach your goal

His why was to honor his grandma and probably to feel like he was doing what he could in the helpless situation of knowing she was dying.  Giving her a gift.

Our team suggests that you make a list of 21+ reasons why you are building your business and when you get to the “why that makes you cry,” you’ve found it.

People will do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure, so attaching your why to something that you feel pain, either physically or emotionally about will be stronger than something like wanting to own your own private jet.  (Unless maybe you’re terrified to fly commercial airlines and you are forced to do so on a regular basis.)

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 5: Visualize yourself reaching your goal

Do you have a vision board, have you created a mind movie, have you daydreamed about your goal?  Visualization doesn’t have to be hard like many people make it.  Quick…What color is your car? Our minds think in pictures so you simply need to create pictures in your mind of you reaching your goal.

I’m sure my cousin imagined himself carrying the ball into the end zone.

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 6: Experience the emotions you will feel when you reach your goal

Napoleon Hill talks about having a burning desire to make something happen.  If you’ve ever had a burning desire for something you know that it’s a feeling you get throughout your body.  Maybe you’ve also heard about having the fire in your belly to make something happen.

You can increase this feeling of desire by allowing yourself to feel the emotions you will feel when you reach your goal.

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 7: Have a trigger-device to help you stay focused on your goal

A trigger device is simply something that anchors your mind to your goal and triggers a feeling.

My trigger device is my necklace because it has a diamond for each of my three kids in it and it reminds me of how I want to retire my husband so he can enjoy spending more time with our kids like he’s worked so hard to allow me to do.

My cousin’s anchor devices were his cleats that he wrote “Run one in for Jamma” on the bottom of.  They were with him through the hold game.

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 8: Have support from others who will cheer you on to your goal

Who is cheering you on and supporting you in your goals?  Your team, your family, your tribe?  You can’t do this alone and having someone cheering you on will help you overcome your obstacles and not give up.

My cousin had my uncle in the stands cheering and supporting him.  He had his coaches, his teammates and the crowd in the stands.

Network Marketing Success Mindset Step 9: Get into activity!

Don’t believe that you can just visualize yourself into success without taking effective action toward achieving it. Even if you don’t know exactly what what you need to do for your goal, getting into activity will help you achieve it!

My cousin couldn’t have known how he was going to end up making the goal, but he showed up for the game, dressed and ready to play, and looked for his opportunity to take action toward his vision.

I’m so proud of my cousin and I have learned so much from him through this story.  I hope you learned something too.

      Hi Janette,

I’m sorry for my delayed reply to your comment. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

You are very right…mastering mindset, although sometimes challenging is so important to success.

Thank you so much for your comment!

  2. Hi Heather,

What a very powerful message. I completely understand why you teared up. 😉

Obstacles are extremely difficult to overcome. They take a lot of persistence and determination because they are SO not easy to overcome. The message I’m getting from this great post is, if we can continue on no matter what, we will eventually overcome it.

I COMPLETELY agree with you. This post ROCKED!

      Hi Jerome,

I fell behind on my comments, and I apologize for not replying to your awesome comment sooner.

Thank you very much for understanding my tears and for the feedback on my post. I’m glad the video was powerful for you!

  3. Thanks Heather, that’s a really inspiring story, and I don’t think you need make any apology for your display emotion!

Firstly I’d like to say that it’s truly awesome what your cousin did for his ‘Jamma’, so good for him!

Secondly I think the real potency there is that he did it for love. Generally it’s true, people are more motivated by avoiding pain than achieving pleasure, but I believe that a true love like this transcends all limits and barriers.
If a love like that is the motivation for your actions, your ‘why’, then you can achieve anything…

    Thankyou for sharing,

    • Heather C Stephens says:

      Hi Jym,

Thanks for commenting! You are so right to bring up the fact that my cousin overcame his obstacles out of love. Love is a huge motivator and a big part of an effective why!

I’m sorry for the delay in my reply, but wanted to be sure you knew how meaningful your comment was to me!

      Thank you.

  4. Hi Heather,

thanks for sharing this powerful message. Well, I agree with Jym that there’s definitely no need to apologize for tearing up, on the contrary I want to congratulate you on your courage to show your emotions.

A nailed WHY will keep you on track no matter what. Without it, people will always look for an easier “how to” even if the “how to” in front of them is already easy. With a 60 % WHY and an 70 % obstacle, you’re toast, With a 99 % WHY and a burning desire you are setting yourself up for receiving, your personal radio station called brain will tune in the frequency of abundance the universe provides for all of us.

Again, I appreciate your powerful message.

    Take care

      Hi Oliver!

Thanks so much for your comment and for understanding my tears. I was nervous to post this video but felt it was a message that I learned from and hoped others would get value from it as well.

I love how simply you put your reply…”with a 60% why and a 70% obstacle you’re toast!” You said it so perfectly! A powerful why is everything to having a success mindset!

Thanks for your comment and please overlook my tardy reply.

  5. Heather,

Let me tell you, it’s absolutely not necessary for you to apologise about getting emotional about this. What a powerful message to share in light of a sad situation.

There’s no doubt in my mind that a definiteness of purpose will break through seemingly impossible barriers. It’s a fantastic story, getting outclassed by the opposition as a team, yet an individual with a purpose will breakthrough to score.

Thank you so much for sharing this Heather,

    • Heather C Stephens says:

      HI Wayne,

Thank you for your meaningful comment! I appreciate you and I’m grateful you shared your thoughts. I’m reading Napoleon Hill’s The Master-Key to Riches right now and learning more about definiteness of purpose. It’s a powerful lesson and my cousin was a great example for me!

Sorry I’m late in replying. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!

  6. Hi Heather,

Thanks for sharing such an inspiring and personal story with us. The reason why we do things is paramount to our success because this is what drives us to achieve results despite the odds, as your story so beautifully illustrated.

Without the right mindset business success will always be unattainable no matter how great our skills and knowledge is because there will always be challenging circumstances to overcome.

    • Heather C Stephens says:

      Hi Marcus,

I fell behind in my comment replies, but really wanted you to know how much I appreciated your response to my post about my cousin and his football tribute to his grandma.

Thanks so much for your support and appreciation for my personal story. I was scared to share it, not sure if it was too personal or not, but I got great replies from it and I’m thankful to have taken the risk and overcoming this personal “challenge”.

      I appreciate you,

  7. Heather, what can I say? It must have taken a lot of courage & then plain guts to decide to share such an intensely personal & yet emotionally uplifting story.

    I thank you for that!

As for the “Why” – I’ve always defined this as – the one thing you strive to achieve, that just the mere thought of achieving it makes your palms sweat!

Well, that’s what it does for me anyway…

    Stay inspired!

    • Heather C Stephens says:

      Hi Michael,

I know I’m tardy on this reply, but better late than never, right? Thanks so much for your comment and your feedback on having a why that makes your palms sweat! It’s a great way of describing a powerful why!

      Thanks so much!

  8. What a moving and powerful story, Heather!

You’re so right: if your ‘WHY’ is big enough, then you’ll figure out the ‘HOW’ so you can get what you want.

Developing a positive mindset is so key to achieving your goals and creating success.
