"Now I just thought I would like to chime in on the conversation regarding the campaigns, etc. I remember when Heather started these that another unwritten rule was that everyone commented within 48 hours. To tell you the honest truth, the campaigns were fantastic and really flew by.
I do know that we have lost so many people because they drag on so long. sometimes it takes over a week to complete one and that gets pretty old fast."
I completely agree with her that things need to be shaken up here and I accept responsibility for the way it is now. I apologize that I haven't been as active as I wanted to be. I created this community to be able to help more people, and I haven't been present enough here to give you all what you deserve.
I am working with a business mentor to help me reorganize my approach to CleverMarketer and get some help through a VA or outsourcing to free myself up to better be able to serve this community and help it grow. It's a work in progress, but I want you all to know that I'm committed to making this work.
In the beginning...
When the blog commenting tribe originally began we started a new commenting campaign every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning. The number of participants varied with each campaign but there was a fresh campaign starting every other day (except over the weekends where it was a 3 day long campaign). It was required that you finish commenting before the next campaign started and before you posted your link in the next campaign. The benefits was that it kept it fresh. The challenge was that if the campaign ended up having 15-20 links in it, it was time consuming to make the rounds. The other challenge was that at times the campaigns were very small and it wasn't worth participating in and didn't make it a "fair" as having a set number of blogs per thread.
It was required that to participate you committed to completing the campaign commenting before the next campaign began. Sometimes people would post their link the evening before the campaign finished, which was totally fine. We'd just go comment on their post the next morning before starting or posting a link in the next campaign.
We moved to the 10 blogs per thread, based on a vote within this community because it seemed like the most fair solution, it was a do'able number of blogs to comment on, and we were all committed to keeping things moving.
What are your thoughts about this?
Please chime in and lets discuss what possibilities we have to improve these campaigns. :) Comment below with ideas you have, things you see other tribes doing that you like, what would fit your schedule best, etc. Let's discuss this next week and next weekend (March 25, 2012) we'll "call the ball" and post new rules based on the thoughts you all have.
Hugs,
Heather
