   Helloooooo,
   I was just wondering if it is possible to have a social bookmarking campaign here. Here's what I mean.

   As with the normal way, we'll add a link and people will comment. Instead of commenting, people will vote articles up a social news or bookmarking site. For instance, we can use reddit and every blog post in the campaign will be voted up on reddit it or stumbleupon, or digg.com.

   If someone chooses to have his/her article on reddit, everyone in the campaign will vote reddit. If it's stumble, everyone will vote the article on stumbleupon.

   It has been reported that just 5-10 reddit vote can send hundreds of unique visitors down a blog and moseso, traffic from reddit stick, stay and actually read the articles.

   This way, our posts gets more exposure and everyone will go home happy...

   So, is it possible? Can/should we shoot for it?

   I think this is a great idea. I was reading about how Google is looking more into social networks to get their cue as to what is good content.

   And I guy I know in one of my facebook groups has been doing an experiment where he is trying to get hundreds of "likes" for his new site. He's noticed so far that he is already #1 for a number of keywords just since he started this experiment.

   I'm game everyone! :) Do you think we should have a separate forum for social bookmarking links or integrate this into the blog commenting forum?

   If we integrate the two, I suggest that everyone post with their link that they want to receive votes instead of comments, and specify the site they want to get votes on.

   I assume everyone has accounts on these bookmarking sites? I guess if someone does not have an account, they could leave a comment instead, right?

   @Heather, this is my suggestion...others can add or remove from it.
   ***just the normal way we comment, people will drop their links and it'll be voted up in the social media site.

   We could create another sub-forum for it or allow it to run inside the commenting forum. That depends on what other people think.

   Another thing is limiting the number of places we'll have to vote. For instance, digg, stumbleupon, reddit are the biggest...people might/may be requested to promote content only on this site so that we don't thin out...just my idea.

   So, it'll look like this:
   1. I start a bookmarking campaign
   2. I submit my link and description.
   3. I choose where I want it voted up. (may be 1 or all 3, members will decide that)
   4. Others submit their links and we all vote it up.
   5. The circle continues.

   Note: From my research, I've learn't that submitting your own content is frowned upon by the social media sites and also the users so SOMEONE WILL HAVE YOU SUBMITT YOUR CONTENT AND THAT'S WHY PROVIDING A GOOD DESCRIPTION IS IMPORTANT.

   Did I make sense?

   I really like this idea but I would love to keep it separate from the commenting forum, only because the commenting is giving me great social proof AND I am learning from all the great comments. I would hate for the commenting to get diminished or sometimes people may not want to do one or the other.

   If I could suggest: Having a social bookmarking forum and then breaking it down by the bookmarking you would like done. For instance, if you want people to Stumble you then the topic would read :" Social Bookmark Campaign StumbleUpon 26". I only suggest this because not everyone has SU so they won't open that topic. There could be topics for the most popular bookmarking systems.

   I agree with you Allie,
   What I'd just add to that is, since people open up new campaigns for commenting, exactly the same way, people can open up new campaigns for bookmarking blog posts.

   Let see what others see the idea before finally decided...I know there's a place for the commenting campaign ala social proof but then bookmarking is geared towards increased traffic and increased popularity of participant blogs. So two things, different goals...

    Social bookmarking is new for me but honestly, I am new to everything and since I am already way out of my comfort zone, I am game to give this a try! I just am not sure what I am supposed to do. Tim has already given a quick overview but would I need to create an account on the other social bookmarking site mentioned and how does the voting work?

    Yup - good idea. I'm in too.

    Not familiar with Reddit but getting into StumbledUpon.

    @Diana - I guess it means we all sign up for an account with the bookmarking sites being used, and then we simply vote for each of the other posts in the campaign. So we all get more votes, which in turn will create more traffic.

    Someone correct me if I got that wrong!
