Make Money From Home: How to Put More Cash in Your Pocket Today Doing What Comes Easy to You

Make Money from Home Doing what Comes Easy for YouI know it can sometimes sound spammy to claim that you can make money from home today, doing what comes easy to you.  But you really can if you think outside of the box!  If you’re needing to make some right-now-money while your network marketing business is getting off the ground, you may be overlooking some areas in your business that you could be leveraging your ability to make money from home.

Desperation is a prospect repellent that many home based business owners are never aware of.  When you’re desperate to make money in your business, desperate to sponsor in your business, or desperate to move enough products to be able to pay the bills, your voice has a different sound to it.  While having a strong desire to succeed is essential in growing your business, desperation turns people off, even if they don’t sense exactly why they’re turned off.  If you’re feeling desperate to make money from home in your network marketing MLM business, they are subconsciously sensing a feeling of being “hunted” with raised suspicion or doubt.

You Probably Started Your Business to Make Money from Home

Think back to when you first got started in your home based business. Sure, you probably wanted to make a difference in the lives of others, but a big reason for getting started was to make money, right?  Whether it’s to pay down some debt, to put your kids through college, to help provide for your retirement or to allow you to stay home with your kids, money’s a big factor in the reason “why” for most home based business owners.  But in the very beginning of a legitimate home based business, the ability to make money from home is not always there.

It Takes Time to Make Money from Home in A Legitimate Home Based Business

It takes time to build a large organization that is duplicating your efforts.  There is always a learning curve, and although there are a few people who hit home run after home run right after they get started in their business, it’s not typical.  Most of the people who start, will not reach the top of the pay plan in a couple of months! So for those of us “normal” people, if there is a pressing need to make money from home, right away in our home based business, we can end up feeling (and sounding) desperate to the people we’re sharing our opportunity and products with.

The reason I’m having this on my mind is that I’ve been talking with someone who is dealing with this in a big way. She has been building a home based business alongside a full time job so that she can eventually stay home with her son. She recently lost her job and her business is not at the point yet to be replacing her income, so she’s facing the decision of getting another job, which she doesn’t want to do, because she wants to be home with her son.

In order to take some pressure off of yourself (or to help a teammate with some money pressures) it can be helpful to find ways of making some “right now money” until the residual income starts to flow.

I’m lucky to be part of a company with a hybrid compensation plan that offers both right now money as well as residual income from a team.  And, if your company offers the right now money like that, it may be a great way to start, but my company did not always have a preferred client option, so I had to get creative.

Here is a video I recorded to share some of the ideas I’ve used with you. 🙂

So if that made sense to you, if you had ideas to add, if you disagree with me, whatever…please share your thoughts about ways to make money from home in the comments below and please share this post and video on social media with others!

  2. Great post, Heather! I’ve been thinking of offering some sort of proofreading thing for aspiring bloggers and put my English minor to use 😉 You are so right about trying to find other ways to make it through until the business picks up, and I think that book will definitely go to my reading list!

      Hi Steve,

Great idea for leveraging your English minor. Could you also be a tutor or teach English as a second language to someone possibly? How about writing for others?

      Enjoy the book!

  3. Hey Heather! Thanks so much for all your help! I really appreciate it. I have been trying to think outside of the box so that I can do the things that I want to do. We will see how it works out but you had so many great ideas and I really appreciate your friendship and support!
    Lots of hugs!

      Thanks to you too April.

  4. Hi Heather,

thanks for sharing this. I agree that desperation doesn’t create the right mental attitude to attract the right people – unless we want to attract other desperate people. With a hybrid we can make more money upfront by sponsoring people but it won’t get us very far if we sponsor the wrong people into our business.

In these cases, it’s really better to use our skills in a field that is not directly related to our network marketing business. I agree with April that we have to think outside the box.

    Take care

      Hi Oliver!

A great point that by being desperate we’ll attract other desperate people! 🙂

Using my skills to give me the opportunity to allow my organization to grow and duplicate has been a huge asset to my business, even though it didn’t directly relate to my network marketing income at first. It allowed me to have some breathing room so my business could flourish at it’s own pace. (Taking away that desperate look in my eyes! LOL)

      Thanks for your comment!

  5. Hey Heather,

Great stuff as always. It’s about thinking outside the box and discovering the skills that you can use to your advantage to generate some income.

    Thanks for sharing your insights.

    All the best,

  6. Thank you so much Heather for that very empowering message that you shared on your video.

  7. Hi Heather,

When I first tried network marketing I was still employed full time. It just didn’t work for me – too much going on for someone like me and for many weeks I was lucky if I slept for an hour a night. It all just came crashing down on top of me in the end.

When I finally took the plunge again I left by my job but I was concerned that it would be very hard financially for some time. I contracted my skills back to the employment sector but on my terms and as and when I chose. This was a lifesaver so many times.

What you have presented in your post makes huge sense and I can say that from experience.

  8. Hi Heather,

I agree completely with you, desperation is no way to recruit people into your business. Finding other ways to generate income is crucial while your Network Marketing business grows.

I personally use my skills as a web/graphic designer to fund my business as it grows.

There are so many different ways a person can make money online and we all have different skills at our disposal.

So people, use the skills that you have already and find out who needs you’re help. All you have to do is look.

  9. Hi Heather, I know you have spoken about this before as I admired your innovative imagination some time back when I read about your past experience.

First of all, I would like to applaud you for finding a way or earning in the meantime!

What came to mind in this post, is that so many people as you say do have talents they don’t recognize. Therefore they often think there is ‘nothing’ they could share. It’s a shame, but this also comes down to lack of confidence and self esteem.

Secondly, it takes guts to put yourself out there and offer a service, particularly if you have never put a price tag on it before.

Your suggestions though, are incredibly valuable.

I also understand what you meant when you said desperation can be sensed by others. Its so true.

I loved this post and hearing your story, even more than I did the first time.

    Thanks so much for sharing!
